FROM W. E. HEPPER, ESQ., TREASURER TO THE BOROUGH OF LEEDS.

BOROUGH TREASURER'S OFFICE,
TOWN HALL,
LEEDS, Aug. 6th, 1872.

The Justices of the Peace for the North Riding of Yorkshire.

MY LORDS AND GENTLEMEN,

MR. W. DANBY, of this Town, informs me he is about to apply for the office of Surveyor of Bridges for the North Riding of Yorkshire. I have known Mr. Danby since he commenced as a pupil, about 14 years ago, with Mr. Filliter, C.E., who was then Borough Surveyor to this Corporation. I have seen his conduct during the whole of that time, both as pupil and assistant, Mr. Filliter having been engaged by the Corporation the whole time as Borough Surveyor, and since then as Engineer.

I consider Mr. Danby a very clever young man, very steady, and attentive; he has been and is now engaged upon very large and important Works for the Corporation, making large Reservoirs, Bridges, &c. He thoroughly understands the measurement of works and the keeping of accounts.

I have read the advertisement, and consider him fully and well qualified to carry out such work as is there mentioned.

I am,
My Lords and Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
W. E. HEPPER,
Boro Treasurer.
